Palliative Care, Euthanasia & Cremation Services

Does your pet suffer from a chronic illness that’s impacting his or her quality of life? Are you concerned that your elderly animal companion is in too much pain? Are you struggling with end-of-life decisions for your elderly or terminally ill pet?

As loving pet parents, we’d all love to see our companions live as long as we do. Unfortunately, these precious babies are only with us for a limited amount of time which is why it’s so important that we take appropriate measures to make sure that our final moments together are spent as happily and painlessly as possible.

Palliative, end-of-life care at Franklin Veterinary Clinic is offered to improve the quality of life of patients who have a serious, chronic or life-threatening disease/illness. Palliative care is compassionate attention that addresses the patient overall, not just their disease. The goal is to prevent or treat, as early as possible, the symptoms and side effects of the disease and its treatment through an interdisciplinary medical caregiving approach aimed at optimizing quality of life and mitigating suffering among pets with serious, complex and often terminal illnesses.

End-of-life Services and Euthanasia

From the moment you welcome a new pet into your family, a strong bond starts to take root and as they get to senior age, all pets parents wonder, “Will I be able to put my pet down when the time comes?”

We fear losing our pets because they mean so much to us. Nevertheless, that time eventually arrives. When it does, many pet parents have questions about the process for pet euthanasia and how to deal with the grief after such a loss. Our compassionate staff members will be there to discuss your options and help you make those tough decisions. When the time comes, please call us at 575-378-4708 to discuss your needs. Rest assured that your loved one will be treated with the utmost compassion in the most humane and peaceful way with both dignity and grace.

Cremation Services

Private Cremation – We provide private cremation services for families who wish to keep the remains of their pet. Your pet will receive an individual cremation with remains carefully packaged and returned to you. The animal cremains will be available for pick-up 5 to 7 business days after your pet is brought to our facility.

Communal Cremation – For those who do not wish to keep the cremated remains of their pet, communal cremation services are available.
