Fun Things To Do For Love Your Pet Day

February 15, 2023

Love Your Pet Day is coming up on February 20th. This is definitely something we are happy to help spread the word about! Love of course is the secret ingredient in any pet care routine, and can make all the difference to your furry buddy’s happiness, well-being, and overall quality of life. A local Roswell, NM vet offers some ways to celebrate with your animal companion in this article.

Dogs

Many of our canine buddies get super excited over small luxuries, like treats and toys. Spoil  your pooch by getting him something special! Fido may also appreciate a new bed, or perhaps a trip to the park. Belly rubs, kiddie pools, and cooling vests are also good options. You can even treat your pup to a fun session at doggy daycare, or bring him to a pet-friendly store to pick something out.

Cats

Fluffy is quite complicated, but fortunately for us, she doesn’t really have expensive taste. Catnip, of course, is a pretty surefire bet. If your feline buddy doesn’t care for it, get her a honeysuckle cat toy. For some reason, cats that don’t care for catnip often like honeysuckle, and vice versa. Other things that will get that motor going? A new bed, or perhaps some kitty furniture, like a scratching post or cat tower.

Farm Animals

Do you have larger animal friends as well? They’ll also enjoy some snacks! Different types of animals have different options here. Horses and cows absolutely  love this cookie recipe: Mix 2 cups of oats with a half cup of molasses, brown sugar, or honey, a half cup flour, and some chopped carrots and apples. Add water to thin out the mix as needed. Bake on a cookie sheet 325 for a half hour. Voila!

All Animals

Our animal friends really  respond to love and affection, and often return it several times over. Spend some quality time with your furry best friend. This will be good for you as well!

Bonus: Photo Shoot

This is a great time to get some good photos of your pet. Choose a spot with a background that contrasts their coat. You may find that having the photo shoot at dusk or dawn gives you the best natural light.
